DR. SAMPADA BHAT MARBALLI

DR SAMPADA MARBALLI

Ace Performer, scholar, teacher, musicologist and composer Dr. Sampada Bhat Marballi is a brilliant light for the tradition of Hindustani music. Born in Honnavar, North Kanara Karnataka.
Gifted with powerful resonant and sonorous voice, command on rhythm, rich in melody and a sizeable repertoire of common and uncommon ragas are some of the highlights of her singing.
Sampada’s style of singing is the confluence of three gharanas- open throated, linear transitions from swara to swara from Gwaliar gharana, utterly sweet and feeling manner of elaboration from Kirana gharana, emphasis on rhythmic virtues and lightening sargam patterns from Jaipur gharana. By magically blended three gharana’s she is attracting the young generation towards Hindustani music. She is equally adept at semi-classical genres like Thumri, hindi, Marathi, Kannada bhajans, Kannada gazals and so on.

Shreepad Hegde, deciple of Pandit Basavraj Rajguru. Later on she took advanced training of Jaipur gharana from Dr. Shruti Sadolikar Katkar Mumbai, Late Smt.
