PRASANNA KASTHURI - MUSICIAN

Guru Prasanna Kasthuri Guru Prasanna Kasthuri learned Carnatic Vocal music from Shakuntala, a devoted music teacher in Yeshawanthapura from 1977-80. He later continued under Mattur Shankara murthy, where he completed his state exams under him. Due to distances, he moved to another legendary vocalist – Chintalapalli Krishnamurthy to understand the depths of alaapanams and swaras. He also undertook lessons with Ambi Bhagavathar – a student of the doyen of music Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavatar. He had given several concerts with all these teachers in many sabhas in Bengaluru.

He used most of his knowledge in creating more dance works of his own. He has composed music to more than 15 dance dramas and created more than 35 compositions such as Swarajatis, Varnam, Padams, Keertanam, and tillanams.

Prasanna Kasthuri received Scholarships from Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy from 1981- 84. Recently received an artist grant to work with Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj ji on advanced Kathak topics
