The ‘nava rasa’ of Lata Mangeshkar’s music

Lata Mangeshkar is one of the best singers in the world and the best female singer of India who contributed immensely to the music and culture of Indian subcontinent. Despite traditional rivalry, people from Pakistan and India whole heartedly accepted Lata ji as their own singer.

She was born on 28th September 1929 in Indore and started singing at a very young age due to which she came into eyes of every Bollywood director and producer due to which she gained a good number of Bollywood songs for her very early in her career. She won hundreds of awards including 3 National awards, four Filmfare awards, one Filmfare lifetime achievement award, two Filmfare special awards and 12 Bengal film journalist association awards. Lata Mangeshkar is the elder sister of another famous singer Asha Bhosle and combined both the sisters have earned more awards than anyone in the industry. Lata Mangeshkar started her singing career professionally in the year 1942 by the song “Naachu Yaa”.  She has sung a lot of very mesmerizing songs in his career and here are the best songs of her – Bahon Mein Chale aao, Aye Mere Watan Ke logon, aayega aanewala, Allah tere naam, Jo waada Kiya, Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya, tere Bina jiya na jaaye, etc.

In 1974 Lata Mangeshkar’s name was recorded in Guinness book of world records because she sang more than 25000 solo, duets, and chorus songs from 1948 to 1974. She was the first singer from India to get her name on Guinness book of world records. And that is why a lot of singers still get inspired by Lata Mangeshkar and her achievements.

She is the best singer even at this age because her voice is beyond the imagination of anyone. She along with her sister sang some of the most famous songs of the Bollywood industry. She is 88 currently, and she still inspires lots of singers to move ahead. She also got awarded with Bharat Ratna award and many other awards as well that is why she is the one that one should get inspired from.

Sandhya has her training under Pt. Manohar Poddar, Disciple of Pt. Basavaraja Rajguru, Mrs. Vijaya Bokil & Mr. Chandratre from Nasik (Maharashtra, India) since age 7. After she moved to Saint Louis she  trained under Ustad Imrat Khan.  She is an All India Radio artist  from Jalgaon, Nasik and Indian Television - Doordarshan artist from Mumbai. She has accompanied several accomplished artists touring USA from India.  Rendered several concerts in USA and in India, trained several students in USA and produced CDs and Cassettes. Her husband Raghu Pandurangi and her children Amoolya and Ankita help her run the music Anurag Music school in Saint Louis city  imparting Hindustani vocal.
