KARNATAKA VAIBHAVA

Synopsis

A production with more than 30 Dancers, singers and actors perform with alacrity and celebrate the history and glory of Karnataka through dance, music and theater in the unique “Natya” style. History unfolded itself through the 75 minute long musical dance drama.  

“Karnataka Vaibhava” narrates the story of how the land of Karnataka was ruled by various kings and how it came to be formed into the present state that we see today. The sutradhara and the Nati, who start with the greeting of the audience and introduce artists to the audience in the traditional way, allowed the stage to be taken over by the singers who sing a popular Kannada patriotic song written by National poet laureate Kuvempu. After thr prologue dancers begin their performance depicting stories from the first Kannada king MayuraVarma, followed by stories of different Kannada Royal dynasties - the Chalukya, Rashtrakoota, Hoysala, Krishnadevaraaya, Tipu Sultan, the freedom struggle movement and the formation of the present Karnataka. Dialogues and drama in between made the ballet will make presentation livelier and more appealing to the “non-classical dance” crowd and gives the drama artists a wonderful opportunity to work with dancers and vice versa.  

Music is produced by Aravind Studio, under the direction of leading Music Director – Tirumale Srinivas. Songs are sung by leading artists such as Pallavi, Seema Kasthuri, Ashwin and others. The songs are based on both Carnatic classical to Hindustani classical music. The dancers of Soorya Dance Company performed will perform both Bharatanatyam and Kathak dance forms and delight the audience.  

Karnataka Vaibhava also focuses on contributions of poets, saints, commoners, artists. Within 75 minutes – it will attempt to bring a wholesome picture of Karnataka and beams out a positive image.
